These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Senior and Geriatric Dogs LLC, a Virginia limited liability company doing business as Senior Dog Veterinary Society (“SDVS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your use of:
- seniordogvets.com, including the blog, free resources, and Certified Vet Directory, and
- seniordogvets.learnworlds.com, our member learning platform, including certification courses, CE content, live events, community features, and your account.
Together, the “Sites.” By using the Sites, creating an account, downloading a resource, or purchasing a membership, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Sites.
If you are using the Sites on behalf of a veterinary practice or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes the organization.
1. Who may use the Sites
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or purchase a membership.
SDVS certification programs are designed for veterinarians, veterinary technicians and nurses, veterinary assistants, practice staff, and veterinary students. You represent that the professional role you select at enrollment is accurate.
Free resources, the blog, and the Certified Vet Directory are open to the public, including pet parents. See Section 11 for how that content should be used.
2. Your account
Member accounts are hosted on seniordogvets.learnworlds.com. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Accounts are personal and may not be shared. One person, one login. If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, tell us immediately at info@seniordogvets.com.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, including any professional license information required to issue CE credit, and to keep it updated. Certificates issued on inaccurate information may be revoked.
3. Memberships, certification, and CE
What you get
SDVS offers annual memberships that include access to certification courses and ongoing education:
- Level 1 Standard for veterinary support staff
- Level 2 Advanced for veterinarians, credentialed technicians, RVTs, and practice owners, which includes Level 1 content
Membership benefits, course content, CE hours, and pricing are described on the Sites at the time of purchase and may change over time. We may add, update, retire, or replace courses and features as the program evolves. Retired content may be removed from the platform.
Certification
Certification is awarded when you complete the required courses and assessments for your level. Certification is issued to you personally, not to your practice, and remains valid while your membership is active and in good standing. If your membership lapses, your certification status, directory listing, and right to use the SDVS badge are suspended until you renew.
Continuing education credit
Certain SDVS courses are approved by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE). RACE approval does not guarantee that every state, provincial, or national licensing board will accept the credit. You are responsible for confirming that a course meets your board’s requirements and for reporting your credit where required. We will issue certificates and, where the program requires, report completions to RACEtrack, but we make no guarantee about acceptance by any licensing authority.
CE certificates are issued in the name on your account. Certificates may be reissued if information was entered incorrectly, but we cannot issue certificates to anyone who did not complete the course.
Not a substitute for clinical judgment
SDVS content is educational. It is not veterinary advice for any specific patient, and it does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship between you, SDVS, or any SDVS instructor and any animal or owner. Clinical decisions remain your responsibility, exercised in accordance with your training, your license, and applicable law. Drug doses, protocols, and product references reflect the instructor’s understanding at the time of recording and may change. Verify against current labeling and references before use.
4. Fees, billing, and automatic renewal
Pricing
Current membership prices are shown at checkout. First-year and renewal prices may differ, and promotional pricing (for example, event or partner rates) applies only to the term stated in the offer. All prices are in U.S. dollars. You are responsible for any taxes that apply.
Automatic renewal
SDVS memberships renew automatically. By purchasing a membership, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge the payment method on file at the then-current renewal rate on each anniversary of your purchase date until you cancel. Current renewal rates are stated at checkout and on the Sites. We will send you a reminder email to the address on your account before each renewal, at least 30 days in advance, stating the renewal date, the amount, and how to cancel.
How to cancel
You may cancel automatic renewal at any time before your renewal date by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings on seniordogvets.learnworlds.com or by emailing info@seniordogvets.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid term. You keep access until then. Cancellations received after a renewal charge has processed apply to the following term, subject to Section 5.
Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, we may retry it and will notify you. If payment is not received within 14 days of the renewal date, your membership, certification status, directory listing, and badge rights will be suspended until payment is made.
Price changes
We may change renewal prices with at least 30 days’ notice by email before the change applies to you. If you do not agree to the new price, cancel before your renewal date.
5. Refund policy
Because memberships provide immediate access to digital course content, fees are non-refundable once you have accessed any course content or 7 days have passed since purchase, whichever comes first.
If you purchased in error and have not accessed any course content, email info@seniordogvets.com within 7 days of purchase for a full refund.
Renewal charges are non-refundable once processed. We send a reminder before every renewal so you can cancel in advance. If you missed the reminder and contact us within 7 days of a renewal charge without having accessed content in the new term, we will consider a refund at our discretion.
We may make exceptions for documented extenuating circumstances at our sole discretion. Initiating a chargeback for a charge you authorized, rather than contacting us first, may result in suspension of your account.
Group and practice enrollments may be subject to separate written terms, which control if they conflict with this section.
6. License to use SDVS content
All course materials, videos, slides, handouts, toolkits, checklists, protocols, free resources, blog posts, images, the SDVS name and logos, and the design of the Sites are owned by SDVS or its licensors and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use SDVS content for your own professional education and for use within your own veterinary practice. You may print or download materials we make available for download for that purpose.
You may not:
- Share your login, or record, download, copy, or redistribute course videos or member-only content
- Sell, sublicense, or use SDVS content to build a competing course, program, or product
- Remove copyright notices, watermarks, or attribution
- Present SDVS materials as your own or as endorsed by SDVS without written permission
- Use SDVS content to train or fine-tune machine learning or AI models
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the Sites
Practices that want to use SDVS materials for team-wide training should enroll their team members or contact us about group rates.
7. The SDVS certification badge
Certified members in good standing may display the SDVS certification badge on their practice website, email signature, social media, and printed materials, using the badge files and embed code we provide and without altering the badge’s design, colors, or proportions.
The badge may be used only to indicate that the individual who earned certification is SDVS certified. A practice may display the badge only if at least one currently certified member works there, and may not imply that the entire staff is certified unless that is true.
Your license to use the badge ends automatically if your membership lapses, your certification is revoked, or these Terms are terminated. You agree to remove the badge from all materials within 30 days of that happening.
8. Certified Vet Directory
Certified members may opt in to a public listing in the Certified Vet Directory on seniordogvets.com. You are responsible for the accuracy of your listing. We may edit listings for format and consistency, decline listings that are misleading, and remove listings when certification lapses. Listing in the directory is a member benefit, not an endorsement or referral, and SDVS is not responsible for the services any listed practice provides.
9. Community, live events, and user content
The learning platform includes community areas, live events, rounds, and Q&A where you may post questions, comments, case discussions, and other content (“User Content”).
You keep ownership of your User Content. By posting it, you grant SDVS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute it within the Sites and in connection with operating the program, including in recordings of live events.
You agree that your User Content will not:
- Include identifiable client or patient information without appropriate consent
- Include another person’s personal information without permission
- Be false, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or threatening
- Infringe anyone’s intellectual property
- Promote products or services without our permission
- Contain malware or attempt to disrupt the Sites
Case discussions in the community are peer education among professionals, not consultations. Information shared there is the opinion of the individual who shared it, not SDVS, and is not a substitute for your own clinical judgment or a specialist referral.
We may remove any User Content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, at our discretion and without notice.
10. Live events and recordings
Webinars, rounds, and other live events may be recorded. By participating, you consent to being recorded, including your voice, image if your camera is on, and anything you type in chat or Q&A, and to SDVS using those recordings as part of member content. If you do not want to appear in a recording, keep your camera and microphone off and use the Q&A rather than chat, or contact us in advance.
11. Free resources and public content
Free downloads, blog posts, and other public content on seniordogvets.com are provided for general educational purposes. Veterinary professionals may use free resources in their own practice. You may share links to the resources freely, but may not host copies elsewhere, remove SDVS attribution, or sell them.
For pet parents: the information on the Sites is written for veterinary professionals and is provided for general education only. It is not a substitute for an examination and advice from your own veterinarian, who knows your dog. Do not delay seeking veterinary care because of something you read here. If your dog is in distress, contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic right away.
12. Third-party services
The Sites rely on third-party services, including LearnWorlds for the learning platform and checkout, payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal, and ActiveCampaign for email. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or changes to third-party services, though we will work to minimize their impact on you.
The Sites link to third-party websites, research, products, and sponsors. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. Sponsor recognition does not constitute an endorsement of any product, and SDVS educational content is developed independently of sponsors.
13. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Sites to violate any law, infringe anyone’s rights, transmit spam or malware, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or account, interfere with the Sites’ operation, or impersonate SDVS, an instructor, or another member.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Sites, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, share credentials, misuse content or the badge, fail to pay, engage in conduct that harms other members or SDVS, or where required by law. Termination for cause does not entitle you to a refund. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 6, 7, 15 through 19) will survive.
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Closing your account does not cancel a pending renewal unless you also cancel auto-renewal under Section 4, and it does not entitle you to a refund except as stated in Section 5.
15. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITES AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SDVS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, THAT CONTENT IS COMPLETE OR CURRENT, THAT ANY LICENSING BOARD WILL ACCEPT CE CREDIT, OR THAT CERTIFICATION WILL PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR CLINICAL, PROFESSIONAL, OR BUSINESS RESULT.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.
16. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SDVS, ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, INSTRUCTORS, CONTRACTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SITES, THE CONTENT, OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SITES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SDVS IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud.
17. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SDVS and its owners, officers, instructors, contractors, and service providers from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of SDVS content or the badge in violation of these Terms, your clinical decisions or professional services, or your violation of these Terms or any law.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If you have a dispute with us, contact us first at info@seniordogvets.com. Most issues can be resolved informally, and we will try in good faith to resolve yours within 30 days.
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it will be brought exclusively in the state courts located in the City of Alexandria, Virginia, or the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court where permitted. To the extent permitted by law, you agree that any dispute will be brought on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative proceeding.
If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that gives you mandatory rights to bring claims in your local courts or under your local law, nothing in this section takes those rights away.
19. General terms
Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any written group enrollment agreement make up the entire agreement between you and SDVS regarding the Sites.
Changes. We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes affecting active members, notify you by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. Changes to renewal pricing follow Section 4.
Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not transfer your account or these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Notices. We may send notices to the email address on your account. You may send notices to us at the address below.
